Ghana are through to the quarter finals and deservedly so, with a poachers goal from Gyan in the first half of extra time. Ghana fought hard for the victory closing down the Americans at every chance. After the goal, the Americans poured forward in numbers in search of an equalizer to no avail.
Tim Howard rushed forward in the 30th minute of extra time for a corner and a throw in. Both keepers were tussling for the ball with the Ghanaian keeper punching it to safety.
Even with only 5 minutes to go, the Ghanaians still had 4 players upfront to hold up the ball and threaten the American goal.
All in all an solid performance from the only African representatives left in the World Cup.
